Formal Analysis:

The exhibit Tracing Gun Violence In The USA deals with gun violence. The exhibit features vinyl constructions of guns, people, and words that were presented in lines that decline in numbers on the walls of the exhibit. Yujia Gu also featured other forms of media including photography, glass, and projection.

Content Analysis:

The exhibit addresses the issue and impact of gun violence in the USA. Yujia Gu even compared statistics of gun violence from the United States with other countries. The exhibit was very forward but it helped to show the strong message behind the work.

My experience:

I found Yujia Gu’s gallery was hard hitting. I was both shocked and surprised by the statistics that were presented. It was interesting to view something that was both very straight forward facts and art at the same time. I found the exhibit to be very powerful and I hope that it opened up people’s eyes.
